The President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, on Monday, 24 June 2019, inaugurated five Ad hoc committees of the Society, towards the selection of pharmacists, who have performed excellently in their various areas of specialties.
The committees include: Pfizer Excellence Award Committee; World Pharmacists Day Committee; Biogenerics Integrity Award Committee; BASF West Africa: The Young Female Pharmacist of the Year Award; and May & Baker Professional Excellence Award in Pharmacy Committee.
The Pfizer Excellence Award Committee is chaired by Nihimetu Momodu, with members including: Prof. Joshua Ikoni Ogaji – (Plateau); G. A. N Osuji – (Lagos); Dr Emmanuel Olurunsola – (Lagos); Basil Anweh Ter – (Benue); Dr Mahmuud Abdullaah – (Kaduna); and Ngozi Okoronkwo – secretary (Rivers).
For the World Pharmacists Day Committee, it has its Chairman as Dan Egwu- (Lagos), with members as Gbenga Olubowale -(Lagos); Chie Chinwe Nwerri – (Lagos); Kingsley Ekwunife- (Lagos); Ifraim Kifasi- (Taraba) Ijeoma Ewurum – national publicity secretary and Dr Tosin Adeyemi – editor-in-chief.
The Biogenerics Integrity Award Committee has its Chairman as Anthony Oyawole -(Lagos); Chioma Okonkwo – (Ebonyi); Freeborn Okpengwa – (Delta); Dr Ifeanyi Nzekwe- (Anambra); Dr Oyemitan Idris (Osun); Mahmuud Abdullaah -(Kaduna); Dr Malachy Onwumah – secretary -(Imo); and Gift Odu- (Edo).
The fourth committee inaugurated was the BASF West Africa: The Young Female Pharmacist of the Year Award, with chairperson as Prof. (Mrs) Chinedu Babalola – (Oyo) and members including Mrs Vicky Ukwu- (Rivers); Josephine N. Egboh-(Benue); Jide Ladeinde- (Ogun); Mrs Ngozi Onyeagolu (Anambra); Aminu Wambai – (Jigawa); Ethel Agrboko – (Edo); and Ikenna Mbata – secretary (Imo).
The last but not the least committee established was the May & Baker Professional Excellence Award in Pharmacy Committee, chaired by Pharm. (Dcn) Robert A. Tade, with members including Zel Igweze; Prof. Bolujoko Aina; Maria Opara; Innocent Audu; Max Obeka and Emeka Duru (national secretary) – secretary
